Sláinte (slahn-chuh): Irish for cheers
Sláinte is a group of 11 friends and musicians, specializing in upbeat Irish music. Formed in a dorm room at Boston College, Sláinte has been playing throughout New England and New York since 2013.
Our core lineup is a 5 piece including: acoustic guitar, bass guitar, electric guitar, fiddle, and percussion (full kit or cajon). When space allows we can also provide: tin whistle, harmonica, banjo, mandolin, accordion, and a second percussionist. Almost everyone sings lead and backing vocals as well. We like to play with as many of our guys as possible, but always happy to work with whatever space is available.
Most of our music falls somewhere between Irish folk and Irish punk, with plenty of rock/country covers mixed in to keep things fresh. Musically we have a lot in common with The Pogues, The Dubliners, and The Saw Doctors.
